Fire Cupping

A man with short dreads lays facedown while receiving a cupping treatment from a person in maroon scrubs.

Fire cupping is another form of Chinese medicine offered at Seattle Wellness Group, often in conjunction with acupuncture treatment.

Cupping can increase circulation, alleviate pain and musculoskeletal tension, and release fascial adhesions.

In fire cupping, glass cups are used to create suction on the skin. This is a way to break up fascial adhesions and static fluids in the muscle. The suction also creates more space between the muscle, fascia, and bone, allowing for increased range of motion and decreased pain.

Common conditions that cupping is often used to treat:

  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Arthritis
  • Digestive issues
  • Respiratory issues (cough, congestion, asthma)
  • Migraines
  • High blood pressure
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Insomnia
