TMJ

A woman holds an ice pack to her face with an expression of discomfort. Temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMJD, is one of the most common musculoskeletal conditions we treat here at Seattle Wellness Group.

Symptoms of TMJD include:

  • Jaw pain
  • Facial pain
  • Clicking & popping of the jaw joint
  • Muscle spasms
  • Locked jaw
  • Improper jaw tracking

It can also contribute to migraines, tension headaches, neck pain, and ear pain. People who suffer from TMJD often can’t do anything that involves their jaw, such as eating and talking, without discomfort.

Dr. Nadeem Bajwa is an expert in helping people suffering from TMJD achieve long-term relief from pain and avoid any recurring symptoms.

The specific cause of TMJD can be difficult to determine in many cases- certain day-to-day activities can exacerbate the condition. Actions as simple as chewing gum can increase frequency and intensity of symptoms.

Chiropractic care is a fantastic option for treating many occurrences of TMJD- it is non-invasive and cost effective. Often, dental specialists or medical doctors will refer patients to a pain specialist, however chiropractic care can help relieve the often-temporary pain that comes with TMJD.

Although chiropractic care might not be the first thing we think of when it comes to treating TMJD and other forms of jaw pain, Dr. Nadeem Bajwa is highly trained and can help not only find the cause, but also help in giving you the relief you need from TMJ disorders and jaw pain.
